The Synergy of Clean, Safer Ingredients – Our formulas are concise and thoughtfully formulated with multi-tasking ingredients selected for performance, gentleness, and their specific roles in our hair and body care products. We use carefully selected cleansers, conditioning ingredients, botanical extracts, oils, and fermentation-derived ingredients to cleanse, condition, moisturize, and support healthy-looking hair and skin.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a nonprofit consumer advocacy and research organization. We use EWG’s Skin Deep® database as a reference for the published hazard scores of individual ingredients used in our Safe Reset™ products. Based on EWG Skin Deep’s published individual ingredient hazard scores, the ingredients used in Safe Reset™ products have a calculated average hazard score of 1.0, on a scale from 1 (low hazard) to 10 (high hazard).

Our production approach ensures that the natural flavonoids, polyphenols, and botanicals retain their beneficial properties, which can be lost in common large-scale manufacturing processes.

Healthy Microbiome is Key to Healthy Hair and Skin
Recent research has revealed complex, bidirectional connections between the skin microbiota and the immune system. These interactions contribute to reinforcing and repairing the skin barrier, strengthening the body’s defenses against infections, environmental damage, and regulating inflammation. Ingredient Breakdown: Formulated With & Without
INGREDIENTS USED in Safe Reset™
The ingredients below are used across our Safe Reset™ Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash formulations. Individual products contain different combinations of these ingredients; see each product’s Full Ingredient List for its complete formula.
Organic Argan Oil – rich in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids and antioxidants; helps condition hair and skin, support the skin barrier, and protect against moisture loss.
Coco Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate – At the foundation of our Shampoo and Body Wash are gentle, effective, plant-derived, sulfate-free cleansers. They are kind to skin and all hair types and are well suited for cleansing in hard water.
Pomegranate Extract – antioxidant-rich botanical extract that helps condition and support healthy-looking skin and hair.
Resurrection Plant Extract (Selaginella lepidophylla) – antioxidant-rich botanical extract containing flavonoids and polyphenols that helps condition and support healthy-looking skin.
Lactobacillus Ferment & Coconut Fruit Extract – fermentation-derived ingredients that provide conditioning and moisturizing benefits while helping protect the formulation against microbial growth.
Meadowfoam Seed Oil – lightweight, moisturizing emollient rich in long-chain fatty acids that helps condition skin and hair and support moisture retention.
Daikon Seed Extract – lightweight conditioning emollient that improves hair shine, manageability, and elasticity while helping reduce breakage.
Passion Fruit Seed Oil – rich in omega-6 fatty acids and naturally occurring antioxidants; helps condition and moisturize the hair and scalp.
PCA Glyceryl Oleate – plant-based conditioning ingredient that improves hair manageability and wet combability while helping reduce static.
Tartaric Acid – naturally occurring organic acid used to adjust and maintain the pH of our hair and body care formulations.
L-Arginine – amino acid that provides conditioning and hydration benefits while helping adjust the formulation’s pH.
Glyceryl Caprylate & Caprylhydroxamic Acid – a complementary preservation system combining palm-free, plant-derived Glyceryl Caprylate with Caprylhydroxamic Acid to provide conditioning and chelating benefits while helping protect the formulation against microbial growth.
Cetearyl Alcohol – fatty alcohol that functions as a conditioning agent, emollient, thickener, and emulsifier in hair and skin care formulations.
Sucrose Cocoate – gentle, plant-derived surfactant and emulsifier that helps cleanse while providing conditioning and emollient benefits.
Brassica Alcohol & Brassicyl Valinate Esylate – 100% natural, quat-free conditioning system that softens and smooths hair while improving combability, manageability, and strength.
Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate – mild, sulfate-free surfactant derived in part from coconut fatty acids that provides effective cleansing and gentle foaming.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride – lightweight, non-greasy, coconut-derived emollient that helps condition and soften hair while improving smoothness and slip.
INGREDIENTS WE NEVER USE
The ingredients below are intentionally excluded from every Safe Reset™ formulation and are NOT present in any Safe Reset™ product.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) – strong cleansing surfactants that can strip away natural oils and may leave some hair and skin feeling dry or irritated. Safe Reset™ uses gentler, sulfate-free cleansers instead.
Parabens (e.g., methylparaben, propylparaben) – preservatives that have received scrutiny because some parabens can exhibit weak estrogenic activity. Current evidence does not establish that approved cosmetic uses are harmful, but Safe Reset™ chooses alternative preservation systems.
Silicones (e.g., dimethicone, cyclomethicone) – coat the hair to provide slip and shine and can contribute to buildup depending on the silicone, formulation, and hair-care routine. Safe Reset™ achieves conditioning and shine without silicones.
Methylisothiazolinone (MI/MIT) and Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI/CMIT) – preservatives with a well-established potential to cause allergic contact dermatitis and sensitization in susceptible individuals.
Synthetic Fragrances – fragrance ingredients are among the substances that can cause allergic reactions or irritation in sensitive individuals. Safe Reset™ is formulated without added fragrance.
Synthetic Dyes (e.g., FD&C colors) – provide cosmetic color rather than cleansing or conditioning benefits and may cause sensitivity or allergic reactions in some individuals. Safe Reset™ uses no added dyes.
Isopropyl Alcohol – fast-evaporating solvent that can remove oils and may contribute to dryness when used at sufficient concentrations. Safe Reset™ does not use it.
Petroleum-Based Ingredients – derived from non-renewable fossil resources. Rather than relying on petroleum-derived emollients and similar materials, Safe Reset™ prioritizes plant-derived alternatives where appropriate.
Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde-Releasing Preservatives (e.g., Quaternium-15, DMDM Hydantoin) – formaldehyde can cause irritation and allergic skin reactions, and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives can be a source of exposure for sensitive individuals. Safe Reset™ does not use them.
Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate & Benzoic Acid – widely used preservatives that can cause irritation or sensitivity in some individuals, particularly depending on concentration and formulation. Safe Reset™ uses alternative preservation systems.
Phthalates – a broad family of chemicals, some members of which have raised reproductive and endocrine concerns and are restricted in certain applications. Cosmetic phthalates are not all equivalent, but Safe Reset™ chooses to formulate without phthalates.
Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs) – synthetic ingredients used for emulsifying, solubilizing, conditioning, and other functions. Manufacturing quality is important because ethoxylated ingredients can contain unwanted process contaminants if not properly controlled and purified. Safe Reset™ formulates without PEG ingredients.
INGREDIENTS WE NEVER USE (CONT)
The ingredients below are intentionally excluded from every Safe Reset™ formulation and are NOT present in any Safe Reset™ product.
Acrylates – synthetic polymers used for film formation, texture, binding, and thickening. Certain acrylate monomers are recognized sensitizers, while properly polymerized cosmetic acrylates are different materials. Safe Reset™ chooses alternative formulation ingredients.
Benzene – known human carcinogen that should not be intentionally used as a cosmetic ingredient. Safe Reset™ does not formulate with benzene.
Benzophenone and Derivatives (e.g., oxybenzone) – some members of this chemical family have generated concern regarding skin sensitivity, systemic absorption, and potential endocrine activity. The properties vary by individual compound; Safe Reset™ chooses not to use them.
BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene) – synthetic antioxidant used to protect formulations from oxidation. Although permitted for cosmetic use, questions about irritation and biological effects at different exposure levels have led some consumers to avoid it. Safe Reset™ uses alternatives instead.
Cocamide DEA – foam-boosting/surfactant ingredient associated with concern about nitrosamine formation when DEA-containing ingredients are improperly formulated with nitrosating agents. Safe Reset™ uses alternative surfactants.
Diethanolamine (DEA), Monoethanolamine (MEA), and Triethanolamine (TEA) – used for pH adjustment, emulsification, and surfactant functions. Depending on the compound and formulation, concerns include irritation and the potential formation of nitrosamines when certain amines are combined with nitrosating agents. Safe Reset™ uses alternatives.
Hexachlorophene – antimicrobial ingredient subject to significant restrictions in cosmetics because of toxicity concerns. Safe Reset™ does not use it.
Paraffin – petroleum-derived occlusive ingredient that forms a moisture-retaining barrier on the skin. Safe Reset™ chooses plant-derived emollients and oils instead.
PVP/VA Copolymer – synthetic film-forming polymer primarily used to provide styling hold and film formation. Safe Reset™ chooses not to use synthetic styling polymers.
Retinyl Palmitate – vitamin A derivative that can increase skin sensitivity in some individuals and requires appropriate formulation and use considerations. It is unnecessary for the purpose of our hair and body cleansing formulations.
Selenium Sulfide – active drug ingredient used in certain medicated dandruff products and can cause irritation and other adverse effects in some users. Safe Reset™ is not a medicated dandruff treatment and does not contain selenium sulfide.
Triclosan – antimicrobial ingredient that has faced regulatory and environmental scrutiny, including concerns involving antimicrobial resistance and environmental persistence. Safe Reset™ does not use triclosan.
